Online Communication

Faculty should always model professional behaviors and communication in the online classroom.

When students are not communicating properly or meeting expectations, faculty should always reach out privately to the student.

When considering the use of technology, I think it is so important to consider the different blocks of population groups. For example Generation Z, this population is very good with technology. Baby Boomers, on the other hand, are often lacking in their technology skills.

The rubric is a good way to establish expectations and communicate information needed. It also establishes elements of fairness for the instructor.

Always be aware of nonverbal communication, especially in the online classroom.
