Training, and best practices

Sometimes the best training is on the job training. In my case, I would like to have a more comprehensive understanding of the process involved between administration, teachers, students. For example: how does it all work and what is the best line of defense if the student is not responding to your efforts. One way that I can implement an action plan is to express my interest to the Director of Online Training about my desire to know more about the steps involved in the process and perhaps she can show me the paper trail from enrolling the student to the student being in my classroom. I would be very willing to come to campus and attend an information session. Sometimes having a name to go with the process is helpful.

I would also like a little more clarity on some of the tools used with online learning. The learning curve is great and often I have been my own teacher and I don't like to reley on others to help me correct something by emailing. I would like to take a class online or in person at the college for the online instructors. But my action plan is to keep looking for classes talking about "wiki" and different forms of using media to reach students. I am not overly involved in social media, so some of the newer technologies need to be explained to me so I can decide which to pursue. There are several visual forms of media like a modern day PowerPoint which I feel are interesting but very time consuming and challenging to learn.
