It is so imperative in todays market to utilize technology in the classroom. Social media being so big my favorite project is students creating an instagram post or tiktok to get their creativity and technical skills flowing.

Technology in Healthcare Education

Hopefully all candidates entering the healthcare world would know to expect they would be utilizing Information Technology (I.T.), and therefore should expect to utilize it during their classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences.

I have used PowerPoint® in clickable interactive format to create a simulated patient electronic medical record (EMR). I tried to design it to be a foreshadowing of what a student will see when (s)he goes into clinical. For those familiar with reading a patient’s EMR, it may include the following and more:

History and Physical, Emer. Dept. record, Laboratory values, Radiographic images and interpretation, specialized notes from Registered Respiratory Therapists or other specialists, Physician orders, surgical notes, and much more.

One other thought about I.T. in healthcare, artificial intelligence (A.I) may increasingly play a role in patient safety.  Picture a weary Resident physician at 3 am, trying to make sense of a patient’s deteriorating condition.  With A.I. thoughtfully incorporated into such EMRs as Epic® programmed to catch all out of range laboratory values, a summary of abnormal values can be sent to the Resident to consider, not dominating the human freedom to analyze, but to offer a gentle nudge to consider “what if” in the Resident’s differential diagnosis.  Some technophobes may fight the inclusion of such A.I., but it is strongly likely to contribute to patient safety.

I learned that it is very important for students to learn technology to help them become hirable when they begin searching for their jobs.

There are many restaurant/hospitality software programs that not only act as a Point of Sale ordering and payment system, but also track inventory, help with creating orders form suppliers and with recipe storage and costing.  These are all tasks that have traditionally been done manually and the software makes the calculations much more quickly and accurately.

Teamwork is vital in all learning/business formats.

Integrating technology into the classroom is very important to build learners' hybrid skills.  This is the first time I've ever heard of these skills.

Technology is a necessary component or any career and students needs to encounter it in a relevant way as early and often as possible.

IT understanding and use in class are a key for productivity and engagement of the group of students

IT integration is a fast evolving and extremely popular mode of interacting within a business and beyond the walls of the business.  The mastery of the technical side is essential in developing the proper array of tools to be the most successful in an ever growing technological world.

Some students have never used some technology and may need more time to catch on to some technologies.

In a world dominated by technology, it is important that we teach students the value of learning IT related skills.

From this application, I learned it's important to add technology into the course demonstration. Doing so, increases interactive learning and communication between instructors and studies.

Understanding that tech/IT are very useful things when applied to the right causes for business and how having a good grasp from a student aspect.

Too often in early childhood education, we assume technology is "bad" because we default to the child as the user/consumer and fail to consider the tech skills of the educator.  In our community college program, our discipline-specific standards for accreditation now include stringent incorporation of technology skills for our learners.  Many "millennials" come knowledgeable about Tic-Tok and Facebook but cannot open and save a document on a desktop computer.  I'm learning that "keyboarding" and "computer classes" are no longer included in many of our state's high school programs; students access materials for class via iPads and their personal phones.  Given that the majority of business--including education--still use traditional desktop units, this lack of instruction in secondary and postsecondary curricula needs to be revised!

IT is my nemesis.

Being comfortable using technology and understanding that technology is an ever-growing, rapidly changing field are important in today's workforce. As a teacher, it is valuable to incorporate technology in our own delivery of materials and instruction and in the submission of work from students. However, if we want students to use technology on their own, we need to make sure we are clearly explaining how each program works. We cannot assume knowledge from our students.

I like that its says you need to use technology when it builds not just because it is there. Teaching students industry specific technology is very important.

instant accessibility to knowledge

Technology and innovation is the times we are in today, and we as instructors should always iincorperate this form of learning  in all classrooms.

Tech and innovation are always in the drivers seat to some capacity, the more we offer the better prepared the kids will be.
