I learned about projecting academic authority by making sure students are aware of your qualifications, academic achievements, experience working/applying the material in the field, and any other points which establish yourself as a subject matter expert in the field. 

I learned that being an online instructor that you need to be active and a support system. I also learned that you need to get know students just the way you would in a class setting. I would set up live video meeting that students can join and we can talk about any question or struggles that they may have. 

I learned that the instructor's introduction process is especially important and can result in more interaction between students and the instructor.

I took away from this module, the importance of student-instructor relationship. Sharing biography of yourself and students can help achieve a good quality relationship. 

Our backgrounds as professionals bring confidence to the class, but engaging with students and gaining insight of your students and their particulars will inform greater success. 

The importance of establishing a presence with your students that can grow into a learning relationship.  

I learned how to engage online learners and encourage participation

Connecting with students is important to building a good rapport and allowing students to succeed. 

 One way is listening, not overpowering the conversation, and being available when needed.

I learned how to create healthy relationships with my students, how to enact my authority in a non-condescending way, and maintaining my presence while not dominating the conversation. 

It is very important to mentally prepare yourself to provide adequate attention to students with honest, complete and accurate answers, even when the answers are not known; It is also important to monitor communication between students and regularly participate in discussions in the chat

this discussion had me brainstorming different ways to get to know my students and allow them to get to know me

I learned the importance of being present and learning about my students and for them to know me in order to help them learn effectively.

Relating to students is important because it reminds them that they are in a class working with other humans and not just technology. I can relate to my students and establish authority simultaneously by providing a short biography of myself. I think posting a video format of this is effective because the students can see my face, hear my voice, notice my nonverbal body language, and recognize me as a person rather than a picture on a screen.

What i learned from this section is the importance of making your presence known, so students may know you better and start to build the respect on previous achievements and qualifications. As well important for students to present a bit of who they are along with the instructor so a form of relationship can be built. This will lead to further trust and confidence in the whole process of learning as a whole. 

I learned about the importance of maintaining your presence through the different communication channels with our students, which will facilitate the development of the course.

When starting an online course do a discussion ice breaker. Introduce yourself to the students, while at the same time inviting them to introduce themself to you and other students in the class.

I learned that telling students about your credentials is important but I also learned that telling students a fun fact about yourself can make you seen more human. This is important because in an online environment, you need to make sure your presence is felt even if it is not an in-person class.

Establishing yourself allow students to understand and have insight to where they want to be as a medical professional. Posting, including hobbies and such, opens pathways and helps builds confidence in your ability to teach and control as you would in a in person classroom.  

I learned that it is crucial to create a thoughtful bio for the students.
