From this module, I learned seven ways to enhance students’ sense of security during instruction. These include providing security when asking questions, using the Think-Pair-Share technique to avoid intimidating students when responding in front of others, allowing adequate wait time for students to think before answering, creating a safe and respectful environment during discussions and classroom activities, providing clear instructions and directions, and giving effective and constructive feedback. Another important strategy is initiating discussions about homework assignments and class projects so students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their concerns.
I intend to apply these strategies by creating a positive, supportive, and welcoming classroom environment where students feel respected and confident. I want to make sure students do not feel embarrassed or afraid of giving incorrect answers. Instead, I want to encourage participation, allow time for thinking, provide clear directions, and offer helpful feedback. I believe that when students feel secure and supported, they become more motivated, engaged, and willing to participate in their learning.
I learned that creating a welcoming learning environment goes beyond the physical classroom, which is why clear communication, organized materials, and setting expectations early are important in our online environment. Making students feel comfortable when asking questions goes a long way.
Creating a welcoming environment with clear communication is essential in security. Adults do best when expectations are understood. Once expectations are understood, the value of the class becomes a lot clearer and allows them to trust the classroom environment.
Review assignment instructions for clarity and incorporate brief summary where appropriate.
Clear instructions and open communication help build confidences and trust. I want students to enjoy what they're learning, feel challenged and have fun with it. Expressing that there will be frustrating times, but I encourage them to keep pushing, stay curious, and know that it's ok to stumble along the way. You're not alone and it's a team effort.

Setting the proper tone in the room is definitely a huge factor in a student feeling secure. For me, I make sure the environment in which a student walks into is inviting and full of good energy. I am genuinely interested in what they are looking to achieve from my class so I ask questions about their goals and see how this class can meet them. Also, starting day 1 with the information needed for them to understand what the expectations are for both parties as well as what they can look forward to in terms of assignments, projects, quizzes, and hands-on or online evaluations or assessments. I think these methods in conjunction with others can definitely make students feel much more secure in a classroom setting and set students up for success.

Creating and setting expectations with a introduction through each assignment, creating an overview and helping them understand the upcoming content. In addition to creating a summary at the end that help define the goals / requirements of the assignment.
When starting a class, taking a few minutes during the introduction to establish expectations can help students feel safe and set the tone for a professional and organized presentation. This introduction should help students feel more prepared and confident, creating a positive learning environment.
I've learned that students often learn best when they can see how new information relates to what they already understand. Providing security in strategic ways such as feedback and summarizing of material help the student to feel more secure and successful in learning.
I have not considered the insecurities involved in adult learning. The baggage from childhood academic performance, the sense of what you owe to those you are responsible to as an adult. This was very informative.
Sometimes, we overlook the scenario of how it is or how it was like to be a student when in the role of an instructor.
Informing students isn't all there is to teaching. The way we go about creating that safe environment for them to thrive in, to feel motivated in what they want to achieve, that is an effective resource for both teacher and student.
Adult students often exhibit a need for security because their participation in formal education is tied to real-life responsibilities, obligations, and long-term goals.
Providing security to the students is very important as this affects their learning process. Setting up a good environment for the class, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere is very important, and always try this approach with my students. Setting up clear goals for the day and for the course helps to bring stability to students as well. I always like to summarize the class content at the end and this is also very important to make students feel more secure.
Students feel supported when they understand what they're going into, and what's going to be addressed/learned in a given lesson or environment. I would apply this by setting the expectation both before the lesson itself in the materials the student will need to review before the lecture, and at the top of the lecture as well.
Creating a secure learning environment begins with clearly communicating course objectives, expectations, and outcomes while providing students with opportunities to ask questions and engage in hands-on learning. Student security is essential to academic success, as learners may experience vulnerability in various situations. How educators recognize and respond to these situations can significantly impact students' confidence, engagement, and long-term success. Maintaining a supportive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment is vital in both online and on-ground instruction.
Students want to feel secure when starting something new. Clear outlines of what to expect. Group projects/activities in pairs can help as students don't like competition per say.
The first class must set the tone for the environment and expectations. Students should have a clear idea of what to expect and to interact with their instructor.
The class must start off right. Good energy and socialization of the teacher and how the content will be given makes a difference.
