Listening to the contents of this session helped validate my role in Career Services and the purpose of what I do. It can be frustrating and very time-consuming to collect the graduates' placement information for employment reporting. Most times, I am driven only by the fact that this is a compliance requirement by the accrediting agencies. This is the same information that I tell my graduates, which is why there is a need for us to collect said information.
This session helped paint the full picture for me: from being able to give students objective information so they may able to make informed decisions on which program to enroll in; for institutions, to evaluate the relevance and quality of the programs offered; for the accreditors who collect, review & analyze these data; & finally, on a national level, specifically on the topic of economic development, to properly detemine the allocation & investment of public funds.
