What I have taken away from this course so far is the ideas to help engage a new member more effectively. I have bylaws and prepare packets to be mailed to the members prior to the meeting, but the additional step of inviting new members to campus to observe training and engage with students and instructors prior to the meeting I think would be incredibly valuable. I also want to focus a little more this year on showing them how the decision process occurs with the ideas they are giving. That is an areas that is missing from our bylaws. I think its not really about releasing authority to the board to make the decision, but to show in the bylaws how it occurs to they can have more visibility into the process. Anything that can increase their feeling of contributing, being heard, and making a difference. I believe we can do a little bit more to acknowledge them throughout the year, instead of just during the PAC Meetings.
