I agree. On my evaluations by my supervisor each term, there would often be a negative comment in regards to how I engaged the class with questioning. But there were not specific techniques offered on how to improve this area of my instruction.
This course helped me to realize that the majority of my questions were procedural in nature. And when I would ask a more open type of question, the wait time I provided for students was inadaquate. I believe that this aspect of my teaching will be much improed from now on. Thank you!
