Anthony,
I agree. Just this week I have been dealing with such a situation. For years all of us instructors have had our classroom arranged in a seminar format. This facilitates more interaction and discussion between and with our students. The school hired a new janitor (apparently they are hard to find) and he will only clean the classrooms if they seats are in rows. He took a picture of the classroom with the seats in rows and posted on the wall in my classroom. It is his way or the highway. We instructors appealed to our Dean and was told that we will follow the wishes of the janitor. Guess who has the power? So now we have a janitor of 1 week telling us instructors of many years how we will arrange our classrooms and he has the support of the college administration. And, we wonder why education is having all of the problems it does. Who are we there for? So I can understand your comments and appreciate them even more after the week I have had.
