From this module, I learned the value of using the total-points method of evaluation because it creates a balanced grading system that clearly shows students where to focus their efforts and prevents any single assignment from disproportionately harming their final grade. I also learned how important it is to regularly “troubleshoot” my grading methods to ensure fairness, accuracy, and transparency. Keeping the grade book current and having other educators review my system can help me avoid common pitfalls and better support students who want to understand their progress. Moving forward, I plan to apply these practices to make my grading more consistent, student-friendly, and reflective of the actual work students put into the course.
