Orientation and Mentoring Affects Retention

Can all students be in the same orientation even if they are enrolling for different programs.

Liyan,

If they start on the same date, yes. Orientation can have program specific sessions.

Yes, I think all students can be in the same orientation, even if they are enrolling for different programs. This is a good way for them to bond and feel connected. If more than one day has been set aside for orientation, then that would be different. If there's only one day, then it's ok for all students to be there.

We put all seven of our programs together in one Orientation session unless it's a large group (over 50) then we will split them into the different divisions. What we find is, when we put all of the students together, it allows them to bond and get to know the other students that they may not have necessarily gotten to know otherwise. We find students segregate themselves to their different programs and areas of the building, and with this orientation method, it allows the students to mix.

Kristin,

This should be giving the students a greater connection to the school.
