meeting with students/satisfaction

On our institution we use to place a meeting in every part of term. Student enroll in each course designates a student which will represent the group and will bring to the meeting the issues presented by the the group. Usually the student presents the issues (teacher, academic, administrative etc.)that cause their insatisfaction. After the meeting all issues are revised and whenver possible actions are taken. For the next meeting we present information about the issues and what actions were taken.
This a way to deal with the insatisfaction of student and they feel very pleased :-)because not only has a forum but claims are attended.

This sounds like a good way to give students a voice, Elvira. How often do you meet? Who attends from the staff or faculty? What are the most common problems presented? How many students participate? Do they all appear at one time?

Thanks for sharing.

Elvira: Thank you for sharing your experience on the procedure of your institution in meeting with students insatisfaction. In our educative system we have the same procedure. The only difference is that only some of the staff members have access to the information provided by the students and the taken actions. This topic has helped me realize the importance of giving the information to the administrative staff about the students insatisfaction.

Let me explain you. The is lead by the director and record is keep about all the issues. After the meeting we contact the corresponding associate to answer the issie of its area and subsequently we give feedback to the students.\One of the most importante issue we take care very carefully is about the faculty.
The studebt are the best ones to feedback us about whAT IS GOING IN THE CLASSROOM.

Our part of term are of five weeks, because we are an accelerated program for adults.\We meet in all the part of terms. In the meeting is the director of the campus, the director of faculty and the assessment coordinator. It is supossed to have one representative for each course, but actually never shows all of them.
It is volunteer...abd it supossed to be at one time in the semester.
They have the opportunity to present all jinds of worries, comments or problems. It could be since for example about the parking up to the way of teaching of the professor..
I have to say is not easy..to lead this meeting..but it is necessary...and of great help
in many ways because the opportunity to dhare all the things the are worry about and at the same time we use the meeting to tell them about all the importante things for part of term, important due dates, changes, new matters etc...

It's good to hear that the Forums are providing useful information to participants. Betzaida, what steps are you going to take to make sure that information about student dissatisfaction is disseminated to everyone who needs it? Will you create the kind of meeting that Elvira has described?
