By laying the proper groundwork (determining beliefs, mission statement, vision statement, and goals), the career services program will have a clear purpose and direction. Having these things in place, would increase the likelihood of a successful program, and earn the respect of the learners as well as the community partners.
Career development should be woven into our students' learning journey. We need to scaffold appropriate touch points to help them build skills and confidence over time. It is a journey not a destination. Personalized guidance and employer partnerships can be essential to the career development work. Having an articulated career services mission, purpose and vision can help us stay on track.
A clearly defined mission statement and well-communicated program goals are foundational to effective institutional leadership and success.
Having an updated and clear mission statement is vital.
This topic is an interesting topic because it provides the foundation of how to communicate the goals of the program and the legacy it should lead within the institution. By laying this foundation it gives the community as a whole a clear picture of the importance of career services.
