It is very important to listen and respond to helpees in a way that is not going to make them feel not important or frustrated. We are here to guide and assist, not make them rethink if they should have come in asking for help in the first place.
It is important that the helpee feels confident that you care for them by showing them empathy thorough truly listening to their verbal and nonverbal queues.
I like the examples of responding with empathy and how this is helpful to others and during a career search.
It is so important for your helpee to know that you are listening to them, empathizing and comprehending. The should know that you care and are competent.
