Job Fairs!!!!!
Something that works a lot in our department are the job fairs. Every month the workforce orginize job fairs for the community. We always try to go to check job opennings or even just to create a relationship with the HR Managers of the community. We encourage the students to attend the job fairs so they can see all the job opportunities in the area.
HI Laura, How great that your students have the opportunity to attend a job fair every month. Have you considered creating assignments around visits to each job fair. And even require that the student attends a certain number within a specified span of time. That could help make the experience meaningful. It can also take pressure off the student about having to do something specific when attending. It relieves the stress and gives the student something to focus on. If the assignments build skills and confidence, the eventual job search and interview process at the job fair should go smoothly. Thanks, Susan
Job fairs are great we go to them for marketing the school to students. I attand the job fairs with the marketing department to network as well with potential employers.
Job Fairs are one of many many ways to find out about job openings in the community. And for the community to find out about the great training at your school. It takes participating in all kinds of community events that focus on employment and running some of your own. Thanks, Susan
