Asperger's Syndrome, Disability Explained

Asperger's Syndrome is a form of autism that presents unique challenges mainly in social interaction, communication, and organization. The student may struggle with nonverbal cues, handling distractions, abstract thinking, sarcasm, humor, and planning. Strategies used by teachers or instructors include: incorporating structure and routine, using visual aids, communicating clearly and directly, providing positive reinforcement, incorporating special interests, creating a supportive environment, and promoting understanding.
