FERPA

It was very interesting to me to find out what "FERPA" meant and what it consisted of.  Again, being that I am an instructor, and do not or have not had the opportunity to be educated with all of the pertinent knowledge of student rights, etc., as well as the rights of a spouse or parent of a student.  I can say that I have truly learned a lot in this area of the education environment.

Aldgenette,

I found the FERPA module very interesting as well. I try to be very careful when handling grades with my students, and I have had to tell students that I cannot share their grades wih fellow students, even when they say I have their permission to do so. I do not even communicate a students grades with them via email, because I have no way of knowing if anyone else have access to their email.

We are protecting everyone by keeping information private.  Of course, if a student signs a "FERPA Release," we are able to share information to the individual(s) the student has indicated on the release.
