In addition to violating the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), what would be some consequences for the unauthorized disclosure or sharing of a student's personal information?
well thier can be many legal aspect to the violation of the act, this is a safty issues and a protection of ones ID as well. the school can be sued or even worse the studnet can be harmed electroniclly or physically
When the students apply for admission the office enter all the personal information and only the student authorized that the personal information bring for other people. FERPA protected the personal data of the students and any person have authorized to see the califications and other personal data
In addition to supplying a prospective student with information which may or may not be true which could sway their decision to enroll you are putting the other student at risk of confidentially issues at their current job along with an array of other risks.

Hi! Welcome to the forum. You are right there are several risks associated with violating FERPA. Another example is that the school could be placed in jeopardy along with the student OR subject to lawsuits and fines.

It's a confidentiality issue, unless the student has a written paper in the file.
Schools need to be aware that confidential protection also includes some procedures on school like, computer screen not visible to students, students reports should not be on instructor table etc

Hi! Protecting the privacy of the student is critical and federally mandated. Many schools require privacy screens annd computers that time out when not in use.
