Universal Design
Universal design should be apart of the building code for all public buildings and use not just for people with disablities. It makes it easier for the entire population of individuals that attend the college or university.

You are right -- that is the purpose. Universal design may make full participation easier for students with disabilities, but it is helpful to one and all. In a way, our building codes ARE built along the principles of Universal Design for exactly that reason.
