access to education

Access to education elimate disability.

Not really, Carolyn. True access to education makes disability a "neutral." It means that the student with a disability has the same chance to succeed or fail as does any other student. But it doesn't make the disability go away.

Dr. Jane Jarrow

Access to education does not make the disability go away. It allows students with a disability to attend school and gain an education. Once they graduate they will still have the disability but they will also have a degree. The accomodations made for student with dissabilities enable them to learn and graduate.

Gregory,
You are right. Making accommodations while the student is in school may make the difference between gaining an education or not. What they DO with that education is up to them!

Dr. Jane Jarrow

So true access to education only occurs when the playing field is balanced and equal to all parties despite their background.
