Contracts

Are there typical guidelines for contracts with the major television stations, such as: Quarterly, Monthly, Weekly, etc?

We typicaly book our contracts quarterly because of our budget but the television stations are open to booking however you would like even anually if that works for your budget. I am able to book quarterly and make changes to the contract throughout the time period. If we need to increase or decrease the amount of spots we are running they are usually pretty flexible. Most TV stations do have a policy that you must wait 2 full weeks once you cancel your contract before they will take you off the air.

Hello Nino and Leah! Leah did a great job responding to the question posed in that you should book an order in a way that you are comfortable with and there really aren't specific norms. We typically book orders quarterly and send monthly revisions (and often send numerous revisions within each month), however, with this being both a political and olympic year, we have actually booked numerous annual orders to lock in rates and have a better hold on what will be very tight inventory in the coming months. Many stations do have two week cancellation policies, however, they can often be avoided with a compelling argument as to why a cancellation is necessary.
