Recruiting

What is your most common way of recruiting applicants for instructor positions at your chool and how can the method be improved?

Holmer,

We depend largely on the internet and referrals from current teachers and advisory board members. We provide a bonus to current employees who refer an employee that stays with us six months (through the probationary employment period).

word of mouth. Networking. Send communication to clinical affiliates, PAC board members. Asked staff to spread word to colleagues.

We utilize our current staff for recruiting new instructor positions. And we have successfully hired from our past graduates.

Janet,

What do you look for in your past graduates that makes them good teachers?

Jeffrey Schillinger

when you have students that has graduated from school and they come back to apply for a job. I think that is the best opportunity for that student to become a good and responsible teacher. Students that graduated from the school has a better chance of knowing all the needs of being a good teacher and also have the advantage of knowing other previous teachers that they have mentored up under. Meaning they are familiar with all the school rules and regulations to abide by. getting someone that knows how the school is has a better chance of being a successful
teacher.

Angela,

We stress things like the ability to communicate professionally, both in the spoken word and in writing. How teachers write and speak is very important to us as they are the representatives of the institution. How important are these things to you?
