yes, while I believe the skill sets of manager & leader are different I believe that to be truly effective we need to embrace both sets.

I agree with what most are saying. Leadership is is a privilege and a honor. I think the best form of leadership is shown through action not title. The most effetive leaders are inspiring leaders from whom they lead.

I like your statement that leadership is an action & not a position. This is something I try to emphasize whenever I discuss leadership with others.

I agree, David, leadership is a privilege, one that must be taken on with great responsibility. A leader has the ability to motivate, and help a person become the best they can be, but a leader (albeit a not-so-good leader) can also de-motivate and bring hard-working people to anger and tears. It's an honor and privilege to help, motivate, and encourage people/workers/students to become the best they can become while leading the team onward and upward.
