Engaging online learners

Time management seems to be something online some students struggle with. I really liked the idea of helping students change the way they view time in order to be successful in the online environment. It was noted they should organize time just like they organize space. The analogy given of how they arrange their closet was a great way to conceptualize this.

I have found that some students who bring their computers to the classroom setting are often distracted with the opportunity to surf web pages not related to the coursework. In the online environment, the interest of the student my be half efforted unless frequently engaging in assignments, as required by the school. The addition of web-based resources that students might utilize regularly (twitter, youtube, blogs, etc.) could attract more interest to the online learning environment. It could be challenging for a broad range of learners from different generations to acclimate to a more modern approach to learning styles.
