Presentations

Students are willing and encouraged to work on end of the semester presentations, and what they learn online is extremely valuable in that aspect.

Can you be more specific, Jonathan? For example, what do they learn online that actually helps with the projects?

Sometimes they use the online content to help formulate a capstone presentation. Or even just to document where they learned various key points.

Rebecca,

Is the online content preset or is there an opportunity for students to contribute to that?

Dr. Ruth Reynard

It can be both. I think of pre-set as mini-content lectures. Opportunities for student contribution could be discussion questions where the student responds and then comments on responses from two class mates.

Rebecca,

Great! In a dynamic environment, the student contribution to content is important. This is because self direction and individual study should be integrated so that the student takes ownership and develops learner autonomy.

Dr. Ruth Reynard

Student contributions also help to create student buy-in to their own learning process. If they believe they come to class for the Instructor to teach them everything they need to know and do not invest in their own learning process, then oftentimes they are not successful in the course.
