Play?

One strategy I plan to use is encouraging students to explore and experiment with AI in a low-pressure way. Many people approach AI with hesitation or fear of making mistakes, but I have learned that some of the best learning happens when you give yourself permission to play, explore, and be curious.

Along my own AI journey, I realized that I first needed to understand my own thinking. AI often acts like a mirror, reflecting the quality, assumptions, and direction of the input I provide. Once I recognized that, I became more comfortable experimenting, asking questions, challenging ideas, and learning from the responses.

I want my students to develop that same mindset. Rather than viewing AI as something that simply provides answers, I want them to use it as a tool for exploration and critical thinking. By asking questions, testing ideas, and comparing AI-generated responses to their own knowledge and experience, students can develop a deeper understanding of both the subject matter and their own thought processes.

My goal is to help students see that learning is not about avoiding mistakes. It is about being willing to explore, reflect, and adapt. AI can support that process when it is used thoughtfully and with curiosity rather than fear.
