During a classroom assignment I asked the students to develop a list of short term and long term goals. Upon listing their goals they were also asked to determine amongst themselves if they were considered to be intrinsic or extrinisic. The students were able to find out some interesting information about themselves while completing this excercise.

Using cooperative learning in a foundational grammar class worked very well. Homework and quiz grades improved. The students did not move on until they all had learned the concept that was introduced. The students that needed help were not afraid to ask questions when they didn't understand.
