I agree its a great way to relax the students before jumping into the learning process and a great way to get to know each other alittle better.
Since I teach beauty make up, the first day I usually draw each person's eyebrow on the whiteboard with their name. After the entire class' eyebrows are up there, the students take turns matching eyebrows/names to the students in the class. I make sure I don't embarrass anyone, but keep it lighthearted and have fun with it, the class usually gets a kick out of it, while everyone, including me, learns everyone's name!
