I have learned that giving students certifications within the courses they take can enhance student engagement. I am looking at integrating course completion certificates at the end of the courses as a reward system to encourage students to successfully complete their courses.
The overall advantages of certifications and degrees are across the board and not just in the medical field.
I would use certs for recognition
I'm in charge of the academic management of a platform that offers specialized certificates in the technical field. I plan to continue improving the course offerings. What I've learned on this topic is useful for this purpose.
In this module, I learned that certifications don’t always carry the same weight everywhere, especially if there are concerns about testing integrity or if programs don’t have strong oversight. Even though certifications are meant to show verified skills and knowledge, their value can vary depending on how they are earned and how employers or schools view them.
I plan to apply this by being more intentional about which certifications I pursue, focusing on ones that are well-recognized in my field and have strong credibility. I also see the importance of maintaining academic and professional honesty, since the value of any certification depends on trust in the process behind it.
So far I am going to be looking at having our certificate courses autogenerate a certificate upon completion to expedite the awarding of the certificate.
