Literacy is Not an Option --> New Trends and Critical Application

Having hands-on experience for students in CTE classes is most important because all of us are a "hands-on" trade students are learning
We are all now publishers thanks to our online presence. Regarding VR. It will be interesting to read about literacy and VR 10 years from now. I wonder what or how much will change.
VR technology can expand the learning experience of students beyond what they regularly might experience and provide the opportunity to learn new things beyond their immediate reality and experience. I will consider if VR would be a good fit for my curriculum.
VR in the trades is fantastic
literacy addresses the full cycle of literacy skills through to comprehension, all of which are foundational to all learning. Therefore, any resource, instructional plan, or interaction must be used intentionally to develop strong and stronger literacy skills
Literacy is life long achievement but students now have access to different technology as in virtual reality
I think it is interesting that again, the noise and lack of clarity in a multidimensional environment is not also considered. My students crave simplicity so that they can learn the content in a straightforward, energy-efficient manner. The world has become very noisy.
It is important to support literacy in all of its forms including VR and simulation technology. This helps students to be prepared when approaching situations in the real world.
Literacy is fundamental for all sectors of society—it is communication and comprehension. New literacy has expanded the domains of communication and may allow for wider literacy in the population.
Literacy's definition has expanded - it's not just reading and writing anymore, but a collection of foundational skills in order to learn.
The part of this reading that focuses on the vocational trades is very important. If we consider as the foundation of communication then we understand that literacy is important in all aspects of education and life. The idea of not segregating content areas is imperative. We need our students to understand the importance of literacy. I would love to collaborate with our English department and have students in my collision class work on reading, writing, and communication in connection with my class. This will help them see the importance of literacy in life and hopefully increase engagement.
Literacy is impotant in CTE "hands on "classes. In many ways more so.
I am becoming a bigger fan of simulations. Mine are rudimentary but most students prefer them over classroom lecture. In the future I will be looking for more ways to incorporate them with my limited resources.
I am feeling excited and intimidated by this section. The things that stick out to me and feel most relevant in my work are the parts about the evolving centrality of the "self" and the published self, and how that impacts collaboration and community work. I also appreciated the differentiation between multitasking and multidimensional communication (where we acknowledge and embrace the fact that in the modern world, information flows in multiple directions simultaneously and different users are interfacing with it simultaneously and asynchronously.
VR Simulation, in addition to other forms class engagement, is a great way to promote learning within a new dimension, alongside webpages and other multimedia outlets. As instructors, we are often too rigid in our structure for student development. If we are able to break out of the mold and adapt the platforms as promoted through this course, we may have the ability to create new forms of engagement and a better learning outcomes as a result.
The introduction to VR and simulation is what I continue to find fascinating. We have had great success introducing simulation into the hospitality management classes. The amount of content and application of information these students can process in a much shorter time frame is astonishing. The simulation takes a massive amount of lecture and condenses it into applicable details.
Literacy in all areas of life, is important. Literacy, to be most effectively taught to adults, should be focused upon skills that they need for functioning in the workplace and society.
Literacy, even in the trades, is still important. In the school where I work we have the students turn in resumes and together we go through them and make them suitable for applying for a job. We let the students know that if they're resume is not very good via spelling errors and so on, it could effect them being selected or not.
It is important to use all forms of technology to reach your studens, including VR.
