This module discussed the importance of readiness and the value of being prepared when it comes to job searches, presentation, and networking. It also discussed the importance of tracking activities to remain organized. I plan to implement the tracking method to help w/ organization and f/u. I also plan to provide the resources available to give my students the best opportunity to prepare themselves for potential employer interaction and to help them spend their time wisely finding a job that fits their needs.

Formative assessments are needed, but probably are easy to push aside when busy. I also believe the self-evaluation compared with an employers evaluation will be a great tool to create self-awareness.

I have a lot of notes from this section. First, considering some sort of an "Employability Skills" course for students to do before a placement. Second, I need to create a survey to give out to both the students & employers at the end of the school year to gauge how things are going and what we need to improve.

I've been thinking on the advisory council idea. I have a list of people I hope to talk to about being on this council and having occasional updates and opportunities for feedback.

Going from work study to work based learning is a priority for us this year. I am trying to thoughtfully contemplate what types of experiences our students need and specific ages/grades and to make the connections with local businesses to set those up. I think this is a great opportunity for growth and I appreciate this module for explaining the different types of experiences for me to use in our plan coordination.

This module made me think more about how much value can come from a learner’s background and life experiences, even when those experiences aren’t directly related to their career. I want to apply this by helping learners recognize the skills they’ve developed through those experiences and find ways to communicate those strengths in a way employers can understand.

One thing that stood out to me from this module was how easy it can be to make assumptions about someone based on an assessment or their communication style. I want to be more intentional about asking questions and getting to know the learner before deciding what something means or what career path might be best for them.
