A crucial step in budgeting is asking how are we doing? Are we where we need to be? What will our projections look like in the future- this help plan the business and fortify it's sustainability.

I particularly enjoyed the segment about how to show appreciation for our board members for their contributions to your program/facility. While a retreat may or may not be something people are willing to engage in during their spare time, I thought a scholarship was particularly effective form of appreciation, regognition and propagates a living legacy for that individual's name to convey their contributions and signifigance to the program.

My core take-away from this segment was to have effective and productive board meetings it begins with effective management and leadership. Having organized, clear objectives and the time scheduled for meetings to be led by chairpersons capable of managing large groups to maintain prioritization of the objectives and facilitate the producitivty and streamlining of conrtributions establishes the foundation for a successful meeting.

I was pleased to see the directives to recruit a diverse board reflective of the buinesses and practices in the institutiuon's community. The educational, professional, cultural and personnel backgrounds should be represented in the board members comprising the structure for the organization for the most comprehensive and relevant contributions.

I was interested to learn the various boards each have their own responsibilities, duties and legal responsibilities (or lack of) to the institutions depending on the board. The different roles and their purposes for serving the educational institutions were far more intricate than I realized going into this module.

A thorough reveiw of job tasks before posting jobs and before interviews will help in getting the best candidate to fill the role

I learned that our library is a valued asset and learning resource for our students and staff

I have learned ajr a vital role student services planning plays in the long term success of the entire program

I learned that the 5 year plan does not need to be updated annually and that while we should have an inclusiveness and a wide diversity of select individuals

I have no direct experience with g boards. This was an interesting view into the operation and maintenance of boards.
