Leadership can be taught and anyone can be a leader. 

Being a great leader is not the same as being a manager. Managers are promoted because they are good at their jobs but not necessarily good at leading others. Leaders are knowledgeable and can help others to be so as well. 

you need both managers and leaders. leaders deal with change and manager deal with complexity. 

Leaders can happen at any level. They are there to help the group accomplish its goals

The first module discusses how most people misunderstand what managers are and confuse it with leadership.

Management is managing projects, data, results, deadlines and overall production.

Leadership styles assist with recognizing how different approaches impact team performance, communication, and motivation,  As a leader, it allows me to adapt my style to meet the needs of my team, build trust, and create an environment where everyone can succeed.

Having the motivation to lead requires a clear sense of purpose, a commitment to achieving goals, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.  It means being willing to take responsibility, build relationships, inspire others, and lead by example.

So far I have learned that my motivation to lead is in the middle. I am picking and choosing when I want to lead. It hit pretty hard - I like the safe spaces but I know deep down that doesn't help the institution or business thrive! I'm not thriving in this current version of my own leadership! 

As a leader, you motivate through innovation by encouraging new ideas, empowering team members to solve problems, and creating an environment where creativity and continuous improvement are valued!  Encourage creativity, empower ownership, embrace change, recognize innovation and lead by example.
