While we tend to follow a cohesive lesson plan and work toward the same objectives, do you feel students benefit from each of us incorporating our own individual teaching styles based on our unique skills and abilities?

I appreciate that the faculty I work with each bring their own strengths and teaching styles. Even though our approaches and lesson delivery may differ slightly, we all share the same goal of helping our students succeed. Those differences are a good thing because they give students a variety of learning experiences while still keeping us united in our purpose. We don't have to teach the same way to work together effectively; we just have to support each other and keep students at the center of what we do.

Through my teachings, I like to incorporate life experiences into my lessons and discussions. I'll share some of the flaws or mix ups that occurred, and how I overcame them. It makes us more relatable rather than feeling separated or on a higher plane. Even as an instructor, I'll always be a student who wants to continue to learn.

Passion and interest really push student engagement. It showcases that the topic and material can be fun and motivational to their learning ability, retention, and interaction.

Keep the class or classroom community driven and inviting. acknowledging that everyone is welcome helps with participation, organization and even clean up at the end of the day.

Planning is very important!

I personally learned that motivation is very important for students engagement

Come early  and ready.  Use memory props (notebook or voice recorder) to be assured you don't forget student needs or things that come up.  This builds trust and rapport.

Behavior matters.  It is how we demonstrate competency and professionalism.  We should be aware and choose wisely so we show our students that we are purposeful, caring, and knowledgeable.

I learned that what really matters is making sure they can apply what they have learned.  As the director of a Dental Assistant School I want our students to graduate feeling confident and prepared to work in a real dental office.  I plan to continue focusing on hands on training, giving students opportunitie to practice and making sure they understand and can perform the skills they are learning.
