Hello Everyone,

I believe this course is vital to every faculty's training. It is very important for us to understand the legality when it comes to teaching or providing accomodation to our students with disability. We have to put all of our peronal ideas aside. We can never assume that we know the limitations of a person because everybody does things differently. Most importantly, these refresher courses helps us to practice in a way that will help avoid lawsuits for both us and the university. We must help foster equal access to opportunity. Like the training stated, 'the laws… >>>

Hello all,

I do believe in the benefits of establishing thorough communication in my online courses. I never want my students to guess or assume things when it comes to online courses. Establishing forms of communication in my syllabus, welcome email, and my first discussion post helps to make the students aware of what I expect from them. The instructor should also be clear about his/her practices for responding to discussion board questions and/or emails, so students will know what to expect. Being as interactive as possible increases the chances of a very interactive discusssion throughout the course. Building… >>>

Hello all,

To be completely honest with you, I didn't even know that I can use microblogging within our online classroom. Especially, the use of Twitter. Twitter is probably the most well-known microblog and has been used effectively in marketing and public relations as social media marketers use it to their benefit to develop business. Through microblogging, individuals can share what they are thinking, doing, and observing. They can also share their opinions. All of this sharing and following of others provides details about the “pulse” of society or at least individuals in society who are participating in the… >>>

Hello,

I normally do not incorporate hyperlinks in my course content. After completing this learning activity it seems like it would be a very good option form my students to retrieve their supplementary reading materials instead of uploading them in the Doc Sharing blog.  I also love the fact that I can have a guest lecturer in the course by circulating a print-based version of what the lecturer would have said. The best part is that I can have the student email their questions to the guest. I love that idea.

Hello,

This course reminded me of the importance of my influence as an online instructor in my course. It is very important to project my authority and presence from a distance for my online students.  As I was completing this training, I realized that I always have these four different types of learners in my course. This training taught me how to deal with my noisy learners by sending them an email personally to advise them to remain on the existing thread. For my quiet learner, I can ask them a direct question to have them share their ideas or… >>>
