Hello Everyone! My name is Marisel Santiago, and I am an admissions representative. I want to congratulate you on a wonderful course – so far I have thoroughly enjoyed working through Module 1; I especially love the short test after a concept is taught, and getting that immediate feedback lets me know how I am doing and what I need to improve. I hope I can grasp all the concepts taught here so I can be better equip to able to professionally assist prospective students through the admissions process in accordance with all applicable school procedures and Florida Commission for Independent Education policies and guidelines. Awards/Recognition in the Marketing Process

How much impact do awards or special industry-recognitions have on your ability to market your instiutions programs? Do you feel that it makes an impression upon candidates or isn't really a factor in enrollments?

Is it advisable to attend meetings and training if you keep up-todate with rules, regulations, documentsmanuals, ect.?

Institution Web Site

Know that the institution web site should be comprehensive and up-to-date, there is no guarantee. For current information it is important to check with the department heads in your institution, school catalog and other publications, the commission web site, and more.

The Role of the Admissions Representative

The role of the admissions rep is to have an understanding of both the training programs and student services at your institution. Directors in all departments are great resources for institution information and should be contacted regularly.

The catalog includes all the information the applicant needs to know. The signed enrollment agreement comprises the formal relationship between institution and student.

The Florida Commission For Independent Education

**Ensure that you know the difference between having no oversight, versus,having oversight. The Florida Commission for Independent Education was set up to protect the Florida consumers and therefore has oversight over Fair Consumer practices and admissions personnel.

Keeping Current on Licensing Laws in Mutiple Locations

In the school where I work, we have a national and perhaps international focus - we prepare our graduates to work throughout the US and Canada. It is impossible to keep current on licencing requirements in so many different places. Is it reasonable to tell the applicant that they will need to check with the local licensing bodies on spoecific requirements, while telling them the generic requirements?

Advertising and Marketing

A correct advertising is fundamental in the process of recruiting prospective students. Marketing is also important and at the same time very stressful. There are so many people interested but at the same time with lack of knowledge about what they really want. A good marketing requires strategies on how to properly approach different nationalities with different cultures and points of view.

Involving alumni in the admissions process - is licensing required?

How does the involvement of alumni in the admissions process relate to the requirement that "outside admissions agents" need to be licensed. Many potential students ask to be put in contact with graduates. Sometimes these graduates may also be invited to information sessions and to speak to potential applicants about attending. Are the graduates "admission agents"? Do they need to be licensed in Florida?
