Blog vs Discussion

I'm not sure I understand the difference between a blog and a discussion if anyone can start a new discussion and anyone can comment on a blog.

Hello Tom,

The Blogs section on the Group site is for sharing your wisdom, best practices, and valuable experiences. For example, you can publish your proven techniques, methods and strategies on the job. You can also share your action plans from training as well as your successes and challenges in applying what you learned and the outcomes achieved. You can also comment on your peers’ blog posts.

In the Discussions section on the Group site, you can ask a question, initiate a discussion, participate in discussions, or even facilitate discussions. For example:

Ask a question - You can’t find the specific information that you are looking for in a training course that you may be taking? Please feel free to ask your peers. Ask as many questions as you like, however, because peer-to-peer interactions occur asynchronously, please don’t expect an answer right away.

Initiate a discussion - Are you interested in hearing different points of view regarding a particular topic? Please feel free to stimulate a discussion among your peers.

Participate in discussions - Do you find any of the ongoing discussions interesting or thought-provoking? Please feel free to join in.

Facilitate discussions - Do you learn by teaching others? Please feel free to facilitate any of the discussions that interest you. You are empowered to act as a facilitator of learning and development for your peers.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your e-learning journey in the Career Ed Lounge!
