This FERPA training reinforced the importance of protecting student privacy and handling educational records responsibly. I gained a deeper understanding of student rights regarding access to records, disclosure limitations, directory information, and the importance of maintaining confidentiality in both traditional and online learning environments.

As a faculty member, I plan to apply this knowledge by carefully safeguarding student information, verifying authorization before sharing records, and ensuring that I only access student records when there is a legitimate educational interest. I will also be mindful of privacy considerations when using email, learning management systems, and online classroom tools. In addition, I will continue to follow institutional policies and FERPA guidelines to promote a secure and respectful learning environment for all students.
