Classroom Management

One thing about higher education is that we the instructors have academic freedom. However, most of the instructors are not aware of how their role within the classroom aids to the complete growth and development of the adult learner. The students who sit in our classrooms are most often not the traditional age student. Therefore, we have students that are a little more mature and assured as to what it is that they want to do with their degree once they receive it. The instructor must know that dealing with students is much in itself like customer service. When the adult learner feels that they matter and that their education is just as important to the instructor as it is to them, they will return. As a result, retention increases and graduation rates rise.
