I can better assess my classroom with the knowledge I've gained. Teaching adults is no easy task but, to know that I am on the right path with coming in writing down classroom announcements and assignments for the day and being prepared reassured me. I learned that I have to ask more questions even if it's just practical work we are doing. This is my fourth year as an instructor, and I came back fulltime to focus on what I really love doing so learning these different teaching mechanisms will help me flourish. I have never been much of an extrinsic motivator, more of an intrinsic one so I learned that. I will be making sure I read the room as far as engagement and security goes because I want my students to feel confident about what they are learning and their ability to obtain the knowledge, especially teaching a skill like nail technology because they will be independent once they are in their field. As far as autonomy goes I naturally incorporate that, there are times when they have a choice to choose a subject on their final essay or nail assignments and I let them because I feel like they are more motivated to do the assignment and put more thought and effort into it when it's something they want to do or share. I too felt intrinsically gratified knowing I have been already incorporating these teaching styles prior to this course and will keep learning and keep sharing, there is always room for improvement.
