I personally believe that it is very important as instructors to establish a rapport with your students on day one. Taking the time to engage in exercises that allow students to share information about themselves is very important. Not only can the instructor get to know their students but this is also beneficial for the class as a whole. It is very important that the instructor share information as well...especially their challenges with their educational process. I personally make the effort to get to know all the names of my students in every class that I teach.
