What I have learned

In my courses, we have a large amount of information that students must cover for each course. It is very important that they do so in order to grasp the concepts that they will need to demonstrate competence. With this in mind, I am trying to go from an understanding level to more emphasis on analyzing. So, here goes

Understanding 30%- This is pre class

Student pre tests with cut score of 70%

Student synopsis of chapters assigned: they can use the synopsis for their study guide

                               Key term worksheet

Instructor lead= review of concepts and provision of mini lecture videos ( these can be given at lecture and used for continued study)

Applying 40% - in lecture case studies with small group work

                    - class discussion of topics with rationale and guidance by the instructor

                    - Use of in class quizzing and polls to identify muddy issues

Analyzing 20% - post quizzes

                      -reflection and journalling by student

                      - performance on standardized testing

Evaluation 10% - individual feedback on assignments with student

-Mandatory self reflection on performance from students with modifications to their own study plans

-instructor evaluation of student performance and mid and end of course.
