Activity

I liked the fact that we need to keep in mind the rationale of including different forms of support materials and activities, rather than just including them because you can. With short term courses (4 week long), it is important to have engaging activities, but we need to justify adding them, not just so we can have them there.

In the courses that I have worked in, we have to follow both the curriculum and job standards, I did not think about going back and check and reinforce this. I will review this with my upcoming courses.

This course has provided factual reinforcement of my teaching behaviors, of documenting and continued revision of class activities and lessonplans. I have been teaching for 10+ years and while I am no way an expert, I do rely on use of lesson plans to help keep me organized. I will take the plan of having printed out lesson plans into consideration, I think that there can be benefit to this. Thank you.

I have learned about the importance of guaging the student's learning prior to beginning a lesson, about the use of pretests and evaluation tools as well as continual evaluation of student understand during the lesson plan. One of the challenges for me will be time management, I need to work on compression of a lesson over 4 chapters into 3 hours, in order to have time to evaluate student comprehension.

In my courses, we have a large amount of information that students must cover for each course. It is very important that they do so in order to grasp the concepts that they will need to demonstrate competence. With this in mind, I am trying to go from an understanding level to more emphasis on analyzing. So, here goes
