I learned about subjective and objective information.

Objective assessment is a generic term referring to tests where there are clearly right and wrong answers.

Students must be informed as to the scoring method. The student should also be provided with the standards for passing, so using a rubric is great.

Rubrics are a great tool so students have an outline of specific criteria and performance levels for an assignment.

Norm-reference versus criterion-referenced... this will probably be on the final exam.

La importancia de la implementación de los dos tipos de evaluación, teniendo presente la necesidad de una rubrica

Subjective assessments are going to be more labor intensive, but the using a rubric would help mitigate that fact. I didn't know that was another use of a rubric.

Subjective grading takes time. A well-developed rubric for subjective assignments is helpful.

I will look at both reliability and validity when determining whether my exams are meeting the objectives and outcome requirements of the course, specifically the validity, which will let me know if the questions did what I intended them to do.

This module referenced different forms of assessments.

Reliability and validity are both important when creating assessments. They are both important when I am making informed decisions based on my studetns assessment outcomes.

I like the idea of assessing through the essay. This will give the instructor an understanding of how in depth a study understands verses memorizes

In my culinary class, I find that objective assessments like multiple-choice questions, true/false, and matching exercises are great for checking how well students understand key cooking concepts.  These assessments can either be formative, where they get feedback to improve without affecting their grade, or summative, which helps determine their overall grade. It’s a flexible way to keep track of their progress throughout the course.

Establishing norms is importatn in assessments

A rubric is important when teaching.

it is important to learn how to gauge outcomes and provide feedback for assessments whether subjective or objective so you are consistent with your students

I have learned about validity vs reliability

I learned that objective assessments can be summarive or formative.

The difference between validity and reliability. Validity is more important. Validity ensures a test measures what it is intended to measure. Validity is essential. It is more crucial than the reliability. Also, if a test is valid, it is almost always reliable.

Students must be informed on what they are going to be assessed prior to testing to ensure they are aware of what they are being grading on
