I feel that student interaction is key in the learning process.  As instructors sharing our goals, credentials and interests allows the student to view us not only in authority but in a personal aspect.  It allows students to interact with us as "human beings" and not just as an authoritative figure in the classroom.

Using a biography has helped immensely in my classroom.  It is good to know that it works in the online setting as well.

In a traditional classroom setting, I always start with a biography to the parents.  I see that sharing a biography is even more important in an e-learning environment.

Projecting your presence is integral to unifying the group and establishing trust.

Encourage online sharing of each student with a personal biography and have students become familiar with the biographies of their classmates. Respectfully engage students in the way in which they prefer to be addressed. Encourage students to interact with one another. Keep general and specific questions separate in order to avoid confusion and addressing topics in curriculum.

Being Personal, sharing your experiences, academic credentials, and etc with students lets them know that you know what you are talking about.

I have learned that although different teaching online as opposed to in the classroom, it is still possible to develop a rapport with the student and personalize their experience with onlime learning.

During this module I learned ways to project myself as well as learning about my students

Taking time with sending students a personal email shows them that you are there for them and take a person intrest in why they are attending school

I learned that he one-on-one relationships that iIhave with my students, should include  trust, respect, and consideration that I show towards them during every instructional session comprise the core of an energized classroom- one geared towards promoting an enriched, meaningful, and dynamic learning experience

It is good to have a one-on-one experience with your students and reach out to them.

It is extremely important for you to get to know your students. Also, I like how it discussed that it is important for teachers to show their presence, but this does not mean taking over the conversation or be the only person talking. I like the idea of discussions.

Establishing a relationship with students is important in the physical classroom but even more important in an online course. Sharing s short introduction video and asking students to do the same could be useful when working with children and young adults.

I learned the importance of projecting your:

  • presence,
  • authority, and
  • establishing relationships.

What I learned from this lesson is that it is important to remember to be genuine, respectful and empathetic in working with students.

I learned that it is acceptable to share your credentials in your presentations.

Yes I think that trust and open communication between the instructor and student is critical to understanding each other, and where you come from and what you have done.

I have learned that in order to make my presence felt, I have to share something about myself to my students in terms of my educational background and credentials, experience, and a brief biography, so that I can establish a better co nection with my students.

Include personal and professional experiences in your teaching.

Building a relationship is essential to a quality learning experience. Using a biography of yourself and to get one from students is best practice to start building that relationship online.
