Emotional Intelligence in Learning --> Emotional Intellegence: A Wider Context

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

I plan to focus on improving my self-awareness, specifically by pausing to identify and label my emotions before reacting to stressful situations or feedback. I will also make a conscious effort to practice empathy in group work by actively listening to and acknowledging the perspectives and feelings of my classmates, even when I disagree. By consciously applying these skills, I hope to foster better communication and manage conflict more effectively in my learning environment.

Listening can enhance EI by one's increasing ability to learn empathy.

I intend to look at the Physical, mental and emotional connection and try to connect the three more often in class.

Understanding emotional intelligence is not measurable. Emotional learners are very successful,

Self motivation plays a huge role in the success of the students we teach at ACC. We as instructors can look into different ways to provide encouragement for our students to lead them to success in the program and in life. How can we discover the driving factor for each of our students?

Motivation is a such a key factor of success!

Motivation is a driver yes but it is up to the instructor to read their students and know how to drive them as a group to one goal. While doing so can see who is who in the process and be able to motivate each student.

motivation is important to keep students aware and invested in what they are learning

motivation is very important in every learning process, even more so in emotional management,

Really have learned that what I say is often Not what others hear!  Self awareness is is something I need to constantly strive to achieve, and awareness of others is also a moving target

Motivating students in the classroom is no easy task - providing project-based activities where the students are following guidelines but can make many choices themselves is a great way to enhance motivation.

Use it to motivate my students to complete their assignments.

Motivation to learn is so important to the learner.  Being able to provide a variety of learning modalities to reach as many students as possible is an important goal to help students succeed in their learning outcomes.  Using case studies and real-life situations provides a broad canvas for students to apply learning in their own ways, with their own curiosities and sense of accomplishments.

Students need to be motivated to be successful learners. I know for me, if I have no interest in doing something, then I'm not going to be very good at it because I simply don't care. Finding what motivates a student is key.

Motivation is key to learning.

Emotions have a significant effect on learning processes. The more in tune they are with their own emotions, the emotions of other around them, and the ability to manage their emotions can promote success in the classroom.

HALT method for developing empathy.

intrinsic and extrinsic motivation

The central benefit of enhance EI for learners is a developed sense of self and well being in relation to others.

When we are fully connected to ourselves: physically, mentally, emotionally - we are open to learning.

The more invested a student is emotionally in themselves, their classmates and the work itself, the more they will learn .

Empathy and Motivation are very key emotions that helps you relate to others.  Understanding your emotional Intelligence better help you relate to other emotions.  I will use this by utilizing different scenario's relating to learning topic that encourage these emotions.
