I have found gamification to be vital in the motivation of students.  I liked the idea of implementing a clear intent but also having guilds, check points and culminating battles. 

Real life scenarios helps to foster authentic learning.  Rubrics are an important tool to clearly communicate expectations. 

Intelligence is fluid, not fixed, and can be learned.  It is vital to encourage children to have a growth mindset when approaching learning. 

Motivation is what moves us forward and impacts learning. Whenever we can have students discover through authentic experiences, it increases their potential for success. 

It is the responsibility of an educator to cultivate environments and lessons designed to encourage practice of emotional intelligence skills.  Empathy can be practiced through literature and role-play.
