This module reinforced that effective onboarding for online faculty requires hands-on LMS training, clear expectations, and reliable communication. I learned that explaining the reasons behind institutional policies helps instructors understand their importance and prioritize their responsibilities. Faculty also need to know how their performance will be evaluated before they begin teaching.
As Academic Program Director, I intend to apply this by providing guided practice in Blackboard and reviewing expectations for attendance, grading, student outreach, and discussion participation. I also plan to strengthen our faculty resource area with policies, evaluation rubrics, and recorded training sessions. These steps will help new instructors feel prepared and supported while promoting consistent instruction and compliance.
