This sometimes happens through our sales process where a client wants a course either custom 'tailored' or 'developed'.

Think "better late than never".  We try to pin down the scope and DOCUMENT it as soon as possible.  This imay be after initial discussions but helps both define the business outcome goals and steer the product requirement (sales) deiscussions.
