Equipping students with the tools to have them become active learners means to have an all-around approach that maximizes the potential to fully embrace and retain what is being learned. From the standpoint of both knowledge retention and hands-on experience, the setting of goals is the key component: a metric that can be used standardly as the ultimate measurement of progress from any student.
Goals can also serve as a confidence booster. Throughout the material in CTE Learn, the common theme is to have students optimize their learning through various means and methods; however, goals and goal setting appear to be the most effective and widely used approach to influence and/or improve students' attainment the most. Assignments, quizzes, tests, exercises, and hands-on activities are all real-world applications of goals. The goal is the measurement, the result, or finished product, is the achievement. We have created special creative projects, such as short films, to help with goals and achieving desired results. It has worked for the most part, but we are looking forward to next school year already to improve our approach and methods
learned that helping students understand what there expected to do, learn, will help them focus there efforts on what matters.
Providing clear goals benefits every student in the course. It allows students to build confidence in their learning, be more motivated, and engaged in lessons. Having clear learning goals also helps the instructor plan and execute lessons based on student learning variability.
I learned that setting goals early and often can help improve a students drive and learning skill. Which could snowball into them being more engaged more and more as the year progresses.
Providing clear learning goals for the course you are teaching is linked to increased motivation and engagement by the student.
